I have two Spanish 1916's in 7 mm love them, I also have three in 8 mm, two in 308. Magazine matching serial number. The bayonet is known as the Spanish Mauser Model 1893.

Spain slowly backed away from 7mm caliber with the adoption of 8mm. Spain adopted the M43 mauser in 1943 of course , and from the beginning the M43's to include the M43 with the airforce 'crest' were all 7,92 caliber. I found a nice M41 matching to the sheath and bayonet and marked for the Fábrica. Interestingly the M43 has two bayonet lugs on it, one that will fit the standard M36 and M43 Spanish bayonet and the other to fit the M41 Bolo bayonet. The AA98 MAUSER precision stock is made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty. We shouldn't forget about different adapters to allow different bayonet to fit certain rifles ( for example adapter to allow 1941 Bolo bayonet to fit K98 Mauser rifle) For sure they don't fit to FR8 rifles, but perfectly fit to Mauser M98 or M43 rifles. It has a bent bolt and side mounted sling attachments with an overall length of 37.25 inches, barrel length of 17. Model 1895 Mauser Carbine-This carbine may be marked with DWM or Oviedo, as it was made in both places. In other words, Spain was concerned the rifle may have a problem handling the pressures of a standard NATO spec 7.62X51 ammo in it. The Spanish used a lower powered/pressure cartridge 7.62x51 to shoot in them. As I recall, the M1916 Spanish rifle (orignally a 7x57) was a conversion done in Spain making it a 7.62x51. Franco's Nationalist Spain was officially neutral during WW2 but it was well known to all that they were sympathetic to Nazi Germany, especially after Germany's assistance during the Spanish Civil war so it came as no surprise they chose to manufacture their version of the K98k.
